ENVIRONMENT MINISTER APPLAUDS WORKS AT QUEEN EDE SITE
The Honourable Minister of State for Environment, Alhaji Usman Ibrahim Jibril has expressed delight at the quality of reclamation works executed at the Queen Ede Gully Erosion Site in Benin City by the World Bank-assisted Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP).
Alhaji Jibril gave the commendation when he visited the Queen Ede Gully Erosion Site to assess the impact of NEWMAP intervention in the communities.
The Minister of State for Environment, who said his visit clearly revealed that NEWMAP was doing exactly what it was set up to do, also commended the benefitting communities for placing value on what Government had done for them.
Alhaji Usman Ibrahim Jibril said: “Government is about serving the people, Government is about making impact on the lives of the ordinary persons and when there is a problem, that problem has to be solved in the best possible way. And that is what NEWMAP is doing across the country where the project is intervening”.
The Minister appealed to members of the communities to protect the project and not allow people with harmful land practices to destroy the environment.
